Reverse Osmosis

Boerne, TX Area Installation and Repair for Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Systems.

Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration Systems

If you have concerns about the safety of your drinking water, or simply don’t like the taste, you may want to consider a reverse osmosis system (RO). An RO provides your family with the best drinking water possible. High-quality filters remove even the smallest contaminants giving you peace of mind that the water you’re drinking is safe.

Most towns in the Texas Hill Country have hard water problems. Our water contains high concentrations of minerals including calcium, magnesium, and potassium. In fact, Texas ranks sixth in the United States for water hardness.

In addition, many of the homes in the Boerne area use well water which contains organic materials and possible toxins. If you find the smell and taste of your tap water objectionable, installing a reverse osmosis water filtration system will remove or reduce over 100 chemicals, organic compounds, and inorganic materials.

Contact Olde Town Plumbing to schedule your RO installation today or to get a no-obligation quote for your reverse osmosis system.

Great Tasting Water at Your Tap

What is a reverse osmosis water system?

Reverse osmosis is a water purification process. A semi-permeable membrane filters out unwanted contaminants and sediments.  RO filters remove fluoride, chlorine, nitrates, sulfates, lead, pesticides, dirt, and detergents.

Unlike a whole house water filtration system which generally filters all the water in your home, an RO system provides purified water at a single tap in the home.

How does a reverse osmosis water system work?

Reverse osmosis uses a polymer membrane to filter down to the molecular level. It removes sediment particles, chemicals, and salts that an ordinary water filter does not remove.

With a pitcher water filter, particles collect in the filter. In an RO filtration system, water flows across the surface of the membrane. Impurities are washed away from the surface of the membrane and down the drain. This keeps the membrane clean and free from contaminants. Unlike a regular filter, where the particles build up and eventually clog the filter.

Installed at any sink

Where is an RO system installed?

Unlike a water softening system, an RO system is small enough to be installed and stored underneath your kitchen sink.  The filters and holding tank which collects clean water usually take up less than half the space under the sink.

Pros & Cons of installing an RO

Is reverse osmosis water better for you?

RO systems filter most contaminates out of the tap water producing cleaner drinking water. It’s a safe, environmentally friendly alternative to bottled water. In fact, many bottled water companies, including Dasani, Nestle, and Aquafina, use a filtration system that includes reverse osmosis.

In addition, using RO filtered water for tea, coffee, and other drinks often produces a better tasting product than simply using tap water.

Pros

  • Produces healthy, great-tasting water
  • Saves money over bottled water or a water delivery service
  • RO filtration is fully automated and uses no electricity

Cons

  • RO does reduce some good minerals along with the contaminates. (These minerals can easily be replaced with a healthy diet.)
